William Lipsky, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Lipsky is a board certified ophthalmologist who has specialized in cataract, corneal and refractive surgery for over 20 years. His experience includes all forms of refractive surgical procedures including LASIK surgery. Dr. Lipsky also uses the new technology intraocular lens implants including ReSTOR® and Tecnis® for those patients seeking cataract surgery.
Dr. Lipsky opened Advanced Laser Vision & Surgical Institute in January of 2000. ALVSI is a premier refractive facility with state of the art equipment including the Star S4 Visx Excimer Laser and the Intralase femtosecond laser for the all laser refractive surgery. His surgical expertise and outcomes have been utilized by the VISX Company to demonstrate how effective LASIK can be in the hands of a skilled and experienced surgeon. Dr. Lipsky is presently a consultant for NASA and has worked extensively with AMO and NASA to enable Astronauts to have refractive surgical procedures.
Dr. Lipsky is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons and the International Society of Refractive Surgeons. He received his Bachelor Degree from Cornell University and attended New York Medical College. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine before joining the United States Air Force as a flight surgeon. He later served as Chief of Ophthalmology at USPS Hospital (now Christus St. John Hospital) in the Clear Lake Area before opening his practice in 1981.
Dr. Lipsky and his wife Sharon have four children, and eleven grandchildren. He is very active in his community and his synagogue.
Shaena Choi, M.D.
Dr. Choi is a board certified Eye Surgeon who has been in private practice for over 10 years. Her practice involves state of the art cataract surgery including multifocal and toric lens options, LASIK/PRK, oculoplastic surgery, medical glaucoma, medical retina, and pediatrics.
She received her undergraduate degree at University of Texas in Austin and then completed her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. After completing a 1 year internal medicine internship at New England Medical Center in Boston, Mass, she completed her residency training at University of Rochester – Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Medical Association, Harris County Medical Society and the Houston Ophthalmologic Society.
Dr. Choi and her husband have 2 active, young sons. She enjoys running and travelling. She is also an accomplished pianist and is aspiring to learn guitar.
Nancy Stephens, O.D.
Dr. Stephens is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist with experience in diagnosis and management of ocular disease, co-management of refractive and cataract surgery patients, routine family eye care, and specialty contact lens fitting. Dr. Stephens also participates in ophthalmic clinical research as a Sub-Investigator and Principal Investigator with Intouch Clinical Research Center.
Dr. Stephens graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Houston College of Optometry. While attending optometry school, she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa National Optometric Honor Society and received numerous awards including Letters of Clinical Excellence, the Grand Rounds Award, and the Excellence in Medical Eye Service Award. She also received a nomination for the Pediatric Optometry Award. Dr. Stephens worked closely with Dr. Lipsky at Advanced Laser Vision and Surgical Institute during her externship training, and is currently the Clinical Director of ALVSI.
Dr. Stephens is a member of the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. She is actively involved in her church mentoring young girls in the surrounding community, enjoys playing the trumpet on her church worship team, and loves spending time with her husband and two daughters.
